Bridging the Gap: The Matchmaking Platforms for 30×30 GoalIn an era where the conservation of biodiversity is more critical than ever, innovative tools and platforms are emerging to facilitate collaboration and support for ambitious targets like the 30×30 goal. Tuesday, October 17th marked a significant milestone as the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC for N&P) presented its Assistance Matchmaking Platform designed to connect its member countries with assistance providers, both state and non-state actors, willing to support them in realizing their 30×30 goals.
Approximately 70 people from 36 countries attended this first public demonstration of the toolkit and were delighted to see how the Matchmaking Platform can help in a very concrete way. Currently, there are already 34 offers of assistance from nine organizations in the platform, spanning from national support on Target 3 implementation to very specific site-level assistance.
This platform offers two kinds of assistance: financial aid and technical support, a groundbreaking step towards achieving Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The newly introduced Matchmaking Platform is a testament to the collaborative spirit of the HAC for N&P and its commitment to the 30×30 goal. This platform serves as a bridge between member countries looking to implement 30×30 and assistance providers who can offer the necessary support to make this vision a reality. Its core purpose is to streamline and facilitate the matching of needs and resources, ensuring a more effective and efficient implementation of the GBF Target 3. The Matchmaking Platform is exclusively available to HAC for N&P members and assistance providers, where countries can submit requests and supporters can provide financial or technical resources for 30×30 projects.
“Now that the technical and financial assistance platform is developed, we must ensure that every member of the HAC knows how to use it. 2024 will be a critical year to organize regional workshops and maintain the political momentum on Target 3 implementation.” — Jason Dozier, Senior Program Officer on Political Mobilization at HAC for N&P
